Labor Day Weekend traditionally marks the end of summer.  Kids are back in school, days are getting shorter, and the temperatures are starting to fall.  This weekend, come to Breckenridge for the annual Breckenridge Rubber Duck Race.  This year, celebrates the 27th year of racing for the Summit Foundation. Thousands of spectators will be lining the banks of the Blue River through Breckenridge on Saturday, August 30th.  Starting at 11 a.m., enjoy events for the entire family.

Traditionally, the Breckenridge Rubber Duck Race will have three duck races throughout the day.  Starting at 1 p.m., the Hudson Auto Source Kids Duck Dash will start.  As many as 750 ducks will be swimming their way in the Blue River starting at the Adams Street Bridge.  More than 40

Starting on Wednesday, Breckenridge will be taken over with those passionate about biking. Breckenridge was recently recognized as a Bicycle Friendly community by the League of American Cyclists. So, August 20 through the 24th is the return of the annual Breck Bike Week. These days will be filled with great activities for all ages and levels. You just have to love riding your bike. The annual Dillon Open Regatta, an inland-lake regatta, is returning to Lake Dillon this weekend for its 41st year.  The largest, U.S. Sailing-sanctioned competition, west of the Mississippi, will feature between 100 and 150 sailboats that will race against each other in several categories.  Spectators travel from near and far to see this amazing spectacle.  "The legend of the event lives nationally," says Dillon Yacht Club director Scott Snyder.

It might take several months to get the true economic numbers in from the July 4th Celebration in Breckenridge.  But word on the street, from officials and residents, is that this year's Fourth of July weekend drew record crowds and that parade drew the largest crowd in recent years.   It seemed like there were parties happening on every corner!

According to Kim DiLallo, the communications director forthe Town of Breckenridge, "It definitely felt to me that attendance was record breaking, but that would just be a feeling,"   Compared to last year, many store owners are claiming it was much busier.  The owner of Mountain Tees, Cabin Fever, and Arctic Attitude, Chuck Struve, said that this was his best July 4th weekend in the last 10 to 12 years.

Summertime in the Rockies is a great way to escape the hot temperatures across the nation and enjoy relaxing in a quiet mountain town. The Town of Frisco will be hosting the 38th annual Run the Rockies this coming weekend, June 7th, 2014.  It is a challenging 10K or half marathon race at a high elevation.  The normal race route starts at Copper Mountain and allows runners to enjoy a fast paced race to Frisco.  Run the Rockies is a great way for runners to ease into the summer running season with a downhill run while enjoying the stunning Ten Mile Canyon views. A gun-start is schedule at 8 a.m. for those running the half marathon.  Those participating in the 10K will starttheir race at 8:30 a.m.  The recreationpath will still be open to the public during the race, so those that are notparticipating should expect to encounter heavy traffic.  All race participants will need to take a

Springtime is in the air and summer officially kicks off this Memorial Day weekend.  The snow and ice has melted off of Lake Dillon.  The mountains have their lime-green color variances as the aspen trees start to bud.  Starting this weekend, the Frisco Bay Marina will be starting their normal summer business operation.   Come enjoy a relaxing weekend on the reservoir, and rent a canoe, single or double kayak or a powerboat.  Starting on June 18th, stand up paddle boards will be available as well- but try not to fall in!  The water in Lake Dillon iscold.

On May 6th,the USA Pro Cycling Challenge released the 2014 race routes.  This year's route will be challenging for riders and will host the first ever mountaintop finish.  The 550 mile race will begin on August 18th and travel across the state of Colorado, ending on August 24th in Denver.  According to the owner of the USA Pro Challenge, Rick Schaden, "The 2014 route will be a challenge for the riders and will provide plenty of great viewing opportunities for the spectators. Thisyear is looking like it will be the best yet."
