Come join us tomorrow, May 5th, 2014 for a Cinco de Mayo celebration for a great cause. The 31st annual Cinco de Mayo celebration is generously hosted by Mi Casa Restaurant on Park Ave.   Mi Casa is some of the best Mexican food in the county!  The locals gather for an evening of fun and community to raise money for the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC).  Enjoy an evening of drinks and great food, live music, door prizes, and an extensive silent auction.  The proceeds go to the BOEC. The BOEC provides outdoor experiences for those that have disabilities.  Raising these funds, allows the BOEC to provide scholarship money to those that are in need of financial assistance to participate in the programs.

The real estate market is continuing to gain strong momentum.  Confidence when it comes to investing in real estate has returned, and in some cases, there has been a shift from stocks to real estate.  The sale of vacation homes jumped in 2013 by 30 percent according to the National Association of Realtors.  They have been tracking vacation home purchases since 2003 and last year was the largest increase gain since they began tracking.

The Breckenridge Spring Fever festivities are set to kickoff tomorrow, March 22nd.  The month long celebration is one of the best in the Colorado High Country.  It marks the home stretch to the end of the ski season.  On Saturday, make sure to go to Peak 6 and watch the GoPro BigMountain Challenge.  The International FreeSkiers and Snowboarders Association are set to challenge some of the best freeskiers as they take on the narrow chutes, steep terrain, and cliffs found in the new terrain on Peak6.  Spectators are welcomed!  Some of the best places to view the competition are off the Kenosha Chairlift.  The event will end at the base of Sixth Sense terrain, which is a great spot to watch the action.

Breckenridge has received record amounts of snow this season. And with all this snow, it is hard to imagine packing the sunscreen for a spring break party. Breckenridge Ski Resort has announced that they will be hosting the Breck Spring Fever 2014! This is one of the largest spring break celebrations in the high country. The month long spring break party will start on March 22nd and continue through closing day on April 20th, 2014.

The highly anticipated weekend has arrived. News about the big game is posted everywhere you turn. The Denver Broncos versus the Seattle Seahawks. The governor made a proclamation that tomorrow, the Colorado's 14ers will be renamed with a Bronco's player. The state has turned blue and orange! Super Bowl Sunday is tomorrow.

The 24th annual Budweiser International Snow Sculpture took place this last weekend.   Fifteen teams transformed 12-foot-tall, 20 ton blocks, over 65 hours of carving in 5 days, these blocks of snow were turned into stunning works of art.  Only hand tools were allowed to be used and no internal support holds up snow.  

The results are in and Team Breckenridge won first place in this year’s Budweiser International Snow Sculpture!  The name of the piece was “Winter’s Fun”.  It illustrates a father and his son, along with their dog, as they tube down a hill that was created by the Norse god, Ullr.   Tom Day, Partner/Broker at Breckenridge Associates Real Estate, was a member of the team.  He has been carving for 19 years and said that this year piece was

Last week, the Tiger Dredge parking lot was transformed to hold over a dozen 12-foot tall blocks of snow, each weighing twenty tons. Starting this Tuesday, January 21st, the annual Budweiser International Snow Sculptures will kickoff. The competition includes 16 teams from around the world will descend upon Breckenridge with snow tools in hand. They will start sculpting away at the snow, little by little, until they have created a masterpiece. The one rule is that no electrical tools are allowed -- everything must be done by hand.

The teams at the Budweiser International Snow Sculptures will be carving until January 25th, creating gravity defying pieces. At 10 am on Saturday, the judging will begin. Make sure to place your vote for your favorite snow
