Bring on the Snow! Breckenridge Opening Soon!
Bring on the snow! This fall we have had warmer than normal temperatures and a dry spell. Because of Mother Nature, Breckenridge had to reschedule their opening day, moving it from November 7th to a date still waiting to be determined. Officials for the resort are hoping to announce opening day in the near future, so make sure to check back to get the latest news! Breckenridge Ski Resort was not the only resort to delay opening. Keystone and Copper Mountain had a one-week delay in their opening from November 1st to November 7th. Winter Park will be opening three days later, on November 13th. A-Basin and Loveland have been open for almost a month and they are starting to open more terrain, with top-to-bottom ski access. Don't fret! Just because we are having a drier start to the season, doesn't mean that we won't see epic powder days ahead!
Today, things started to change in the high country. Monday's storm, the first big one of the season, managed to close some of the roads and cancel afterschool events, but this week's forecast is just what the ski resort was waiting for! Within the next week, Summit County and Breckenridge could see up to a foot of snow. Tuesday and Wednesday look like they might be dry, but cooler temperatures will make it easier for the snowmaking machines to get to work. The crews at all the resorts are working vigorously to get more terrain open to the public. There is a slight chance for snow showers on Saturday, with 2 to 5 inches possible. Sunday could be a great powder day!
So start dancing to the snow god Ullr and get your boots and skis ready to hit the slopes. It is only a matter of time until the chairlifts at Breckenridge Ski Resort start up for the ski season. I hope to see you there.
