Happy New Year from Breckenridge!!
Happy New Year from the Breck Life Group. The year is off to a great start. The snow started falling yesterday and has continued through the night....it is a winter wonderland outside! Tomorrow = epic powder day! Calling in sick tomorrow might be a great idea.
January is a great time to get in some powder skiing. There are several upcoming events this month that you won't want to miss.
January 11 - 14th
What ski town do you know, sets aside an entire week of partying to the Norse god of snow? Breckenridge. This event is a local's favorite. Celebrating its 54 year, Ullr Fest invites all snow enthusiasts, of all ages, to join in on the fun. Many local folks will be sporting their Viking horns, on and off the mountain. More than 12,000 Ullr fans will line Main Street Breckenridge to watch the quirkiest parade ever- like riding down the street in a hot tub. Following the parade, will be the largest bonfire in town. There are daily events scheduled. Check them out!
International Snow Sculptures Championship
January 24 - 28, 2017 is Sculpting Week / January 28 - February 5th, 2017 is Viewing Week!
For over 25 years, the International Snow Sculptures Championships have been held in Breckenridge. It you are looking for an "awe" moment to start off the new year, this may be it. The 20-ton blocks of snows are transformed into masterpieces... most gravity-defying. Each sculpture is completed by hand, with no electric tools allowed. It is amazing to see the artists at work.
