Hartford Ski Spectacular in Breckenridge, CO

This week, the slopes of the Breckenridge Ski Resort will host some amazing athletes.  Some of these athletes never thought that they would be able to ski or snowboard.  Now, they are getting that chance.  The Hartford Ski Spectacular is on of the largest winter sports festivals for those with disabilities.  From December 2nd through December 8th, the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC), Breckenridge Ski Resort and the Town of Breckenridge will help make these dreams a reality.  Over 800 participants will be taking to the slopes to learn how to ski and snowboard.  Among the participants of Ski Spec, are men and women who have returned back from combat with a permanent disability.  With the partnership with Warfighter Sports, these men and women will be taught a Paralympics sport.   Providing this opportunity to move forward with their lives is very rewarding.  Participants will be staying at Beaver Run Resort.  They will enjoy a week of lessons, clinics and races.

If you watch these athletes overcome the obstacles in their lives, you will see the smiles and reward after a day on the slopes.   Even with physical challenges, participants are determined to get out and enjoy the powder.  So no matter what the challenge is, if you set your mind and strength to achieving your goal, nothing will be able to stop you.  Thanks to everyone that makes it possible, and provides these athletes with an opportunity to enjoy the mountain that so many of us take for granted.
